Rapid tournaments in Budapest 8

A rapid tournament fits into a single day, and in Budapest it is the format of community and university chess. The Gazdagrét Kupa in Újbuda brings amateur and rated adults and children to the local community house; the BEFS Universitas Kupa, a FIDE-rated Swiss organised by the Budapest university and college sports federation, is played at the Budapest sports federations’ house on Curia utca; the TFSE Racka Rapid and the Budapest stops of the Ten Cities programme take place at the Testnevelési Egyetem.

Józsefváros has two regular rapids: the Sakklovagok Társasága’s tournaments at the A Grund bar near Corvin Plaza, open to all ages, and the Grund64 amateur championship for players rated under 1800. The Terézváros rapid open and the ART 3F SE rapid events complete the list.
